Hey lovebirds! If you’re dreaming about eloping in Florida but aren’t sure where to begin, I’m here to help. Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte are made for the sentimental introvert - they’re waterfront, charming, and full of character. If you’re imagining a wedding day that feels relaxed, quiet, and 100% about the two of you, you’re going to fall in love with this area.

Let me walk you through how to turn your elopement into a full-day adventure - no wedding party, no pressure, just love and sunshine.

Morning: Ease Into It

Start your day slow. Grab coffee and breakfast at one of the local gems like Downtown Kava. Take your time. Laugh about how today’s the day. Maybe exchange letters or just hold hands across the table like it’s your first date all over again. Trust me - you’ll remember these little quiet moments just as much as the big ones.

Midday: Fisherman’s Village Magic

If there’s one place that’s basically made for elopement adventures, it’s Fisherman’s Village. Picture this: colorful boardwalk buildings, sailboats drifting in the harbor, and that salty breeze that makes everything feel like a movie.

You can take a romantic stroll hand-in-hand down the waterfront promenade, peek into the cutest little shops for souvenirs, or pick up something sweet and silly for each other to remember the day. Grab ice cream from the Creamery, find a bench, and just people-watch while you share a cone (or get your own if you're not into sharing — I won't judge).

If you’re feeling adventurous, hop on a Harbor Day Cruise right from the marina. It’s a beautiful way to soak in the views, spot dolphins, and feel like you’ve truly escaped the chaos of the world. Just you, the water, and that "we really just did this" kind of joy.

As your photographer, this is one of my favorite places to capture real, unscripted moments - and bonus, the lighting? Chef’s kiss.

Ceremony: A Sunset “I Do” at Sunseeker Resort

Once you've soaked in the sunshine and sea air, it’s time for the main event. Sunseeker Resort in Port Charlotte is the perfect backdrop for your ceremony. The water views are gorgeous, the staff is wonderful, and there’s just enough elegance to make it feel special without being over-the-top.

You can skip the catered menu and large event space meant for large weddings and exchange your vows in a peaceful, intimate setting instead. You can keep it short and sweet, or write your own and make everyone (okay, mostly me) cry.

Don’t worry if it’s just the two of you - I promise, it will still feel big. The energy, the setting, the love… it’s everything.

Afternoon: Drinks, Dancing, and Barefoot Kisses

After your ceremony, we’ll wander around the resort or pop over to TT’s Tiki for some fun photos and waterfront cocktails. TT’s Tiki is relaxed, open-air, and full of that "we're in paradise" vibe. It’s a great spot to let loose a little — maybe your first “married” margarita?

If you’re into a chill vibe, head to Peace River Beer Company for some casual craft beer. Or if you’re in the mood to dress up a bit, dinner at The Perfect Caper or River City Grill is romantic, delicious, and the perfect way to wind down the day.

Or - hear me out - order takeout, head back to your hotel, and dance in the kitchen in your wedding clothes. Yes, I will 100% photograph this.

Sunset: The Sweetest Ending

The sunsets here are everything. If you didn’t do your ceremony at sunset, don’t worry. We’ll chase that golden light and find a quiet spot by the water to capture the dreamiest, softest, most glowy photos of the day.

It’s just you two, wrapped up in love and light, maybe dancing barefoot on the dock or cuddling on a bench with the breeze in your hair. It’s the kind of moment that will live rent-free in your heart forever.

Bonus Tips for Traveling Couples

  • Marriage License: If you’re from out of state, Florida makes it easy — no waiting period! Just stop by the Charlotte County courthouse in Punta Gorda.

  • Vendors: You really just need three things — a great photographer (hi!), a kind officiant (Sunseeker helps you out here), and a place to stay. (Both the Sunseeker resort and Fisherman’s village are perfect for your honeymoon). Everything else is just extra sparkle.

  • Weather: This is Florida. Bring sunscreen, maybe a backup plan, and go with the flow. You’ll be glowing either way. I don’t mind the rain when it happens … and honestly it makes for some epic photos

  • Timing: Weekdays = more privacy, fewer crowds, and often better vendor availability.
